DANIELLE MURRAY
Owner and Instructor
Danielle has over 15 years experience within the performing arts. At the age of five she began her dancing career enrolled in a single ballet class at a local studio. It was this class that marked the beginning of her true passion and led her to explore the world of dance. Since then Danielle has fulfilled the role of student, as well as performer, choreographer and instructor.
Danielle is also the creator of Taboo Dance & Fitness and is responsible for a few of the Island's "firsts". Danielle was the first to bring Cardio Strippersize to Victoria and one of the first to offer Pole Dancing Classes. Strippersize was born in November of 2004 and has been growing ever since. It is now under the sole direction of Danielle, who recently completed the Bachelor of Commerce program in Entrepreneurial Management to better herself as an entrepreneur. The Bachelor of Commerce is Danielle's second degree. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Victoria. Her goal is to make to make Taboo Dance & Fitness the absolute best it can be and to give her students all that she can.
GINA BROWN
Strippersize Instructor
Gina has been on stage since age 9 performing in the Sooke School District's annual P.A.C.E. Musical for 10 consecutive years. She studied Musical Theatre and Ballet at STAGES Performing Arts School, then the Chechetti Ballet Method at Island Dance Studio under the instruction of Christine Richardson. Returning to the STAGES Summer School programs to study Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Jazz Funk and Musical Theatre she was fortunate enough to study with Craig Hempsted, Anne-Marie Cabri, Kim Breiland, Lia Biros, and Morgan Mcleod. In 2001 she received the Youth in Action Award for Performing Arts from the Chamber of Commerce.
She has been heavily involved with Four Season's Musical Theatre since 2001 choreographing, co-directing, co-designing and constructing costumes, and performing, including playing "Peter" in the 2003 spring production of "Peter Pan". Gina performed in Victoria Operatic Society's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and choreographed "Forever Plaid" for the Oak Bay Beach Hotel Dinner Theatre in 2004. In Spring 2005 she directed her first musical, "Beanstalk". Gina has been teaching the Musical Theatre classes at STAGES since 2002 and is one of the office managers at STAGES.
In June 2005 she ended her three-year part-time career at Belmont Park Pre-School where she worked one-on-one with special needs children, so that she can study at the University of Victoria in their Education Program.
BRITTNEY FORSLUND
Strippersize Instructor
Brittney has been dancing ever since she walked into her first tap class at the age of three. Her passion for dance grew as she did, and over the years has expanded her dance skills to include ballet, jazz, lyrical, modern, funk, and hip hop. She performed in the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival (GVPAF) and Danceworks Festivals for 12 consecutive years, dancing within large groups, small groups, and as a soloist. She has also had international performance experience dancing in Peurto Vallarta, Mexico, and Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. Brittney had the amazing experience of auditioning for the dance program at Ryerson University in Toronto, Ontario in 2003. She sang and danced in the Totally Teen Talent Show in 2000 and 2002, and played ‘Rizzo’ in a high school musical theatre production of "Grease". One of her greatest performance moments was dancing for Janet Jackson at the Triple Threat Dance Convention in Vancouver in 2002.
Brittney will be commencing her fourth year of teaching at Excalibre Dance Studio this September, while completing her second and final year at Camosun College in the Business Administration Diploma Program. From there, her long term goals include attending the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto and opening up her own practice in Victoria.
Brittney is very excited to be a part of this new and unique style of dance. She is anxious to pass on the Strippersize techniques and love for dancing to all her students!
MYNDI RHODES
Strippersize Instructor
Myndi first discovered her love for dance at the tender ages of baby ballet. Born and raised in Victoria, along with younger sister, Jenny and brother, Darcy, her interest and talent developed onwards throughout the years, both in school and at a local dance studio. Myndi gained the majority of her dance experience at the Janice Tooby MacDonald Dance Studio in a variety of dance forms, primarily jazz and tap, winning numerous certificates and trophies at dance festivals, attending dance conventions and appearing in elite dance galas and benefits.
At 20 years of age, she is currently in her third year of pre-med at the University of Victoria. Myndi gratefully became aware of Cardiostrippersize on a bulletin board while studying at UVic. After inquiring about the classes, see was soon registered. Myndi immediately fell in love with the exotic dance form and after completing several classes, became part of the teaching faculty. Now that she is an instructor, Myndi hopes to convey her knowledge and love for dance and Cardiostrippersize to all participants she has the opportunity of teaching.
EVE SILK
Strippersize Instructor
Eve began her dance experience at the early age of five years old. She started her first ballet class up North in Telkwa, BC and continued to explore her passion of dance over the years with jazz, hip-hop and break-dancing. For the past two years Eve has been highly involved in Latin dancing, which includes salsa, meringue and cha-cha. Eve always found dancing to be her forte and hoped one day she would be able to share the love of dance with others.
Eve’s previous experiences range from instructing young children in gymnastics, kickboxing, two years of choreographed cheerleading and training in bodybuilding. While still in secondary studies Eve was involved in the stage performance of Gypsy Rose Lee, playing the role of a 1920’s flapper girl with singing and dancing parts. Eve also participated in the stage performance of an anti-drug and alcohol abuse play in Toronto called, Time To Be Me. With her interest of acting and dance Eve became involved in a First Nation’s performance company where she assisted with wardrobe design, lighting, set structure and production assistance.
Eve currently owns herown business as an interior and exterior field colourist. She is also the project manager for United Builders Ltd. construction. After Eve attended her first year of Cardio Strippersize classes, she completed her Cardio Strippersize Instructor's Course 1,2, and 3, and is now into her third year of teaching Cardio Strippersize. She has also completed Pole Dancing Level 1 and loves to be involved with the choreography of some of the dance routines that are taught. Eve looks forward to each class she teaches. Showing women of all ages, shapes, and sizes how to have a fun workout, express themselves, and most of all, how to be truly sexy while you sweat.
JILL EVANS
Pole Dancing Instructor
Staying fit has been a top priority for Jill, her entire life. She has been involved in dance and fitness since the age of 4. She began at Barry’s School of Dance in Abbottsford BC with ballet, and continued for 14 years with tap, jazz and modern, and production. She competed in the annual Intra-School Festivals, as well as their year-end productions. Jill particularly enjoyed creating her own routines, and frequently won first place in the choreography categories. Jill was also drawn to the stage to act through out her child and teen years. She participated and starred in countless plays and musical theatre productions in her community church and school.
Jill knows first hand what an excellent muscle-building work out pole dancing can be. She saw bulging biceps on herself for the first time in her life as a result of this activity! These results inspired her to begin a regular work out regime, and she continues to go to the gym four to five times a week. Jill is currently attending Camosun College, where she is half way through the Business Administration Diploma Program. One day she would like to have her own business in the field of fitness and/or nutrition, No matter where Jill’s life takes her, dance will always be a huge part of it.
Jill looks forward to putting her artistic talents work and is very excited to share her love of dance and interest in fitness.
